Natural Me…

Just an update on my Natural Hair Journey and updates…

Image

Me with my hair straightened and with no makeup.

Im loving how my hair looks and feels so healthy now that I take better care of it instead of just washing it and throwing in some weave. I decided to straighten my hair for the winter time, because my hair does so great when its cold outside and straightened and I didn’t want my hair drying out with the coldness in my natural curls.

Eventually I will be putting in some senegalese twist towards Christmas so I wont have to bother with my hair period! Anything that is low maintenance for the hair is perfect for me.

Soon I will be starting to film videos to place on my youtube as well as my blog on different tips i have using NATURAL products for skin care and your hair as well as ‘How To’s’ on applying makeup and different products that I use. So stay tuned because I have so much in store! =)

My Natural Hair Journey

My Natural Hair Journey

I’ve been natural for about 3 years now, but One of those years I was growing dreds, and another one of those years I was wearing sew ins. So here I am starting from scratch and finally wearing my Natural hair out. Im not going to lie I was TERRIFIED! But i love the outcome of my decision, and I’m comfortable with it.
Its a bit of work training my hair and getting some of its natural curl pattern back, but I’m working on it.

I currently have a Fall regimen and a few staple products as of Sept.9, 2012 (my day of finally wearing my natural hair out). Ill be sharing that with my readers soon.

Pre Poo Treatment

This is a pre-poo treatment that I use in my hair once a week before my shampoo.
I don’t shampoo my hair every day, Once a week is good enough for me.
I found this treatment to help manage and leave my hair so much softer once I’m done washing my hair.
The moisture it provides for my curls are just… Wonderful! Especially now that the fall is approaching and the dry weather is here!

Steps to take:
I took equal amounts of Olive Oil, Honey, and Coconut Oil (Mind you all of these products are Pure/Organic)
I place the ingredients I have put together in a plastic Baggie then submerge it in a cup of hot water.
Once oil and honey has melted together I saturate my hair with the product
Let this stay in your hair for about 30-45 then rinse it out in the shower to begin your shampoo.

Keep in mind that this is something like an hot oil treatment if you’re familiar with that and it may drip a little, so be prepared!

Cherry Lola Treatment

Cherry Lola Treatment

So Me being a newly natural, i of course have did A LOT of research on different products and treatments to do to my hair.
My hair is so used to weave that now that I’m finally letting it breathe she wants to have a mind of her own… therefore I must train her. lol!
I decided to try this treatment called ‘The Cherry Lola Treatment’. I would say this treatment acts more as a protein treatment. Did i see an automatic change once I used it? I SURE DID!
I didn’t expect to see dramatic changes it being the first time, BUT i did! Seriously…left my hair with the plumpest, defined curls.
Once I finished i didn’t place any gel, just a little conditioner (not leave in, and no i do not always wash my conditioner out). And my hair is super soft, moisturized, shiny, super coily and happy!!!
In the picture displayed are the steps that i took…

Steps to take:
I mixed 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/8 cup Amino Acids, 1/8 baking soda til it gets really light and fluffy. (use ingredients according to your hair length)
I saturated my hair with the concoction (lol) and let it sit for about 45 minutes with a bag over my head so my natural heat can do its job with the product.
Once ready to be rinsed I rinsed my hair over the sink with cool water (do not rinse out in shower, may cause frizz).
