Brown Sugar & Honey Face Scrub Exfoliate…& Mask.

Now to those of you who feel they need to exfoliate EVERYDAY…DO NOT…I REPEAT DO NOT! When you exfoliate it opens up your pores, and if you do it everyday there is no water cold enough that will close those pores back up! If you have oily skin I would recommend you exfoliate twice a week. Dry Skin should be exfoliated at least 4 times a week. Combination skin can be exfoliated at least twice a week as well. && REMEMBER to always close back up your pores after washing your face with COLD WATER!

Brown Sugar & Honey Face Scrub

ImageHoney is high in vitamin C, a variety of B vitamins and minerals. It is rich in amino acids and contains antioxidants which fight free radicals and reverse aging. Honey is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. It is a humectant making it an effective moisturizer because it binds moisture to the skin and keeps it hydrated.

Ingredients: One tbsp. of organic honey, one tbsp. of brown sugar, ½ tsp of coconut oil or oil of choice

Directions: Mix ingredients, wet face with warm water and smooth the face scrub over skin. Exfoliate gently for about 30 seconds, do not exfoliate too hard. Rinse skin with warm water.

Honey Mask

Ingredients: One tbsp. of honey, one egg white, one tsp. of vegetable glycerin, and ¼ cup of flour

Directions: Whisk together ingredients, smooth on face and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water then follow with a splash of cold water.

Natural Skin Toner

So I realized in using Toner it dries my face out because its taking away all that is left that a cleanser does not get. The Alcohol and all of the other harsh ingredients were just doing to much for my face, so I decided to do a little research and use something that would work better for my skin….

ACV Toner

Image

Apple Cider vinegar contains alpha-hydroxy and amino acids that help dissolve dead skin cells. It treats acne and exfoliates and balances the ph of the skin. ACV will leave your skin with a beautiful glow.

Ingredients: One cup of organic, raw ACV and one cup of distilled or spring water. A 1:1 ratio works great for my skin but you may need to adjust the ratio according to your skin needs. Some people may find a 1:1 ratio to strong and use a 1:4, or 1:8 ratio ect.

Directions: Mix ACV and pure water together in a glass container and shake well. Apply the mixture to skin with a cotton ball once daily after cleansing then apply moisturizer.

I would not suggest ACV for sensitive skin types.

Natural Oil Cleanser….YES i said OIL!

Basic Oil Face Wash

Figure out which Oils work better for you…!

I know what you’re thinking. “Use oil to wash my face?!” Yes Oil is an excellent and gentle skin cleanser for all skin types. Even oily, acne prone skin! The oil cleansing method, commonly referred to as OCM is becoming more and more popular. It deep cleans, soothes and most importantly does not strip the skin. Instead it leaves the skin soft, clean, and moisturized.

Ingredients: Coconut oil, Castor oil, and grapeseed oil

Directions: Rub a quarter size amount on face for about 30 seconds. Rinse with very warm water. You may have to rinse a couple times to get all the oil off.

I put the oils in an 8 oz. glass jar. I split the oils up by 1/3 and shake. It’s that simple, I don’t go through the hassle of doing exact measurements. I just eyeball it. You don’t have to use the oils I have listed above. You can use almond, jojoba, olive, avocado etc. Or you may want to use certain oils for the certain benefits that may be beneficial to you. Have fun mixing up different oils and ratios and finding the best mixture for you.

Natural Me…

Just an update on my Natural Hair Journey and updates…

Image

Me with my hair straightened and with no makeup.

Im loving how my hair looks and feels so healthy now that I take better care of it instead of just washing it and throwing in some weave. I decided to straighten my hair for the winter time, because my hair does so great when its cold outside and straightened and I didn’t want my hair drying out with the coldness in my natural curls.

Eventually I will be putting in some senegalese twist towards Christmas so I wont have to bother with my hair period! Anything that is low maintenance for the hair is perfect for me.

Soon I will be starting to film videos to place on my youtube as well as my blog on different tips i have using NATURAL products for skin care and your hair as well as ‘How To’s’ on applying makeup and different products that I use. So stay tuned because I have so much in store! =)

Cucumbers…Not a want but a NEED!

cucumbers1. Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need every day, just one cucumber contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.

2. Feeling tired in the afternoon, put down the caffeinated soda and pick up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B Vitamins and Carbohydrates that can provide that quick pick-me-up that can last for hours.

3. Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging up after a shower? Try rubbing a cucumber slice along the mirror, it will eliminate the fog and provide a soothing, spa-like fragrance.

4. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices in a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long. The chemicals in the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent undetectable to humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the area.

5. Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before going out or to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers along your problem area for a few minutes, the phytochemicals in the cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten, firming up the outer layer and reducing the visibility of cellulite. Works great on wrinkles too!!!

6. Want to avoid a terrible headache? Eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed and wake up refreshed and headache free. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish essential nutrients the body lost, keeping everything in equilibrium, avoiding a headache!!

7. Looking to fight off that afternoon or evening snacking binge? Cucumbers have been used for centuries and often used by European trappers, traders and explores for quick meals to thwart off starvation.

8. Have an important meeting or job interview and you realize that you don’t have enough time to polish your shoes? Rub a freshly cut cucumber over the shoe, its chemicals will provide a quick and durable shine that not only looks great but also repels water.

9. Out of WD 40 (I hope you are ALWAYS out of WD 40 and that you use just oil -Unprocessed Mama) and need to fix a squeaky hinge? Take a cucumber slice and rub it along the problematic hinge, and voila, the squeak is gone!

10. Stressed out and don’t have time for massage, facial or visit to the spa? Cut up an entire cucumber and place it in a boiling pot of water, the chemicals and nutrients from the cucumber will react with the boiling water and be released in the steam, creating a soothing, relaxing aroma that has been shown to reduce stress in new mothers and college students during final exams.

11. Just finish a business lunch and realize you don’t have gum or mints? Take a slice of cucumber and press it to the roof of your mouth with your tongue for 30 seconds to eliminate bad breath, the phytochemicals will kill the bacteria in your mouth responsible for causing bad breath.

12. Looking for a ‘green’ way to clean your faucets, sinks or stainless steel? Take a slice of cucumber and rub it on the
surface you want to clean, not only will it remove years of tarnish and bring back the shine, but is won’t leave streaks and won’t harm you fingers or fingernails while you clean.

13. Using a pen and made a mistake? Take the outside of the
cucumber and slowly use it to erase the pen writing, also works great on crayons and markers that the kids have used to decorate the walls!
